The Global Somali Association (GSA) is a membership network built for the Somali community in Minnesota, Ohio, Seattle, Boston and California. It brings members, businesses and vendors into one place: one membership, one calendar, one number. When we show up for each other, and spend with each other, the whole community grows.
We have the people, the businesses and the talent. What we haven't had is something that ties it all together.
Announcements live in a dozen group chats, flyers and word of mouth. If you're not in the right chat, you miss it.
Families pay $20 or more at the door, every single event. Showing up to everything adds up fast.
Booths cost $250+ per event with no promise anyone will walk by. One slow day wipes out a month of profit.
Our businesses serve the community every day but can't see who their regulars are or which events actually bring people in.
Minneapolis, Columbus, Seattle, Boston and California each run on their own. The community is bigger than any one city.
When we can't easily find our own businesses, we spend elsewhere. GSA points the community's spending back to the people building it.
Everyone gets a permanent number in the order they joined. Members bring that number to every event and every business. Each check-in earns points and tells businesses and vendors who their community is. One system, working for everyone in it.
Today, a family going to four community events a month pays $80 at the door. With GSA it's $9.99, for every event.
Vendors working two events usually pay $500 or more in booth fees. With GSA it's $34.99 for the month, with both events guaranteed and 500 to 1,000+ people through the doors at each.
Today's costs assume $20.00 entry per community event and $250.00 per vendor booth. First month is $15.00.
Not just another pop-up shop. GSA events are built for real engagement: things families, young people and elders actually want to be part of, every month, in every state.
Stand-up from our own community. Laugh with people who get the jokes.
Big screen, family seating and a pop-up market in the lobby.
Soccer, basketball and more. Neighborhood teams, real trophies.
Minnesota vs. Ohio. Seattle vs. Boston. Bragging rights across the network.
Elders, historians and poets on where we come from and who we are.
Fashion, food, fragrance and crafts from vendors across the network.
Every member check-in is a data point. Businesses and vendors see how many customers come back, their busiest days and hours, which states their supporters come from, and how many people attended the events where their ads ran. It's the kind of customer insight big chains pay for, built into the membership.
Members' privacy comes first: a business only sees members who checked in with them, and only their name, photo and number.
Your membership works everywhere GSA is. Visiting family in another city? Check that state's calendar and walk right in. And when states face off in State vs. State games, the whole network shows up.
Missions let members, businesses and vendors raise money for causes here at home and back home: clean water, food for Ramadan, school for orphans, help when disaster hits.
Every mission shows its goal, when giving closes and the date the money is sent, followed by an update with proof. Every mission you join is recorded on your profile.
Events and points are the start. Next: tools that help the community save together, build businesses and wealth that last, and support family and community through donations and jobs.
Buy together and pay less. Members pool orders for groceries, travel, insurance and more.
Book GSA venues for your own events, celebrations and weddings at member rates.
Mentorship, sponsors and introductions that help community businesses scale.
Programs and resources to help you build something that can one day let you retire.
Member deals on flights and hotels across North America, Europe, Africa and Asia, for visiting family, Hajj and Umrah, or a trip home.
Support family and community through donations, and connect members to jobs at community businesses.
